For more than a decade, Hollywood has been enjoying a “Great Gatsby” period - complaining about runaway productions, to Canada and the Far East as well as in some instances to the Mid-West.
Each of these reports foretold of doom for the industry.
In August 2012, the industry newswires reported on a New Hollywood emerging from the old steel mills, in of all places, the Pittsburgh steel town of Pennsylvania.
The buzz has been centered on the heels of the production of the closer for the Dark Knight - Chris Nolan trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises and the production costs afforded for the Warner Brothers studio as well the flexibility in shooting a multitude of landscapes and scenery, using a very small footprint.
And yet Hollywood managed a turnaround, with some of the highest grossing films in modern history and with a grand slam of recent releases laden with special effects and opulent budgets. The colossal super-hero flicks have only multiplied with each major studio vying for more titles and more audience marketshare.
